Airline Pet Carriers

When you are traveling abroad and you can’t leave behind your precious pet you must have a perfect airline pet carrier. Many people enjoy vacationing with their pets and there is no reason why your pet should not have the best experience possible. The pet carrier must but me airline approved and after careful research I found the most common concerns from customers just like you. As you search online for an airline pet carrier let me share with you some tips to look for before making your purchase.

The product must be well made. This is the most important aspect of an airline pet carrier. It must be sturdy and durable and yet comfortable for your pet. Most pet carriers are made to endure clawing and scratching without any signs of wear. And even though the external material or walls or rigid, the interior can be soft and plush for that added comfort and coziness your pet loves. Most carriers come with a fleece thick pad for the floor and some have padded removable walls. The complete interior can be removed and cleaned allowing you to use it for years to come. The more safe your pet feels in the pet carrier, the more calm they will be during the flight.

Know Your Pets Weight

Pet carriers come in several different shapes and sizes. Finding the size for your pet is highly important. Never get a carrier that is too big or too small, it could actually harm your pet during the flight. Each carrier comes with a recommended pet weight and size. A small carrier can range form 2lbs in weight to 6 lbs. A medium carrier normally ranges from 7lbs to 12 lbs. A large carrier will vary from 13lbs to 20 lbs. They also make an extra large carrier and special orders for animals over 100lbs. Know your pets weight before you start shopping.

Some carriers are designed for traveling and easy storage. Some carriers will break down and fold nicely to be stored out of sight in a small compartment. This is nice for everyday use at home or abroad when space is an issue. If you have a small pet some airlines will allow you to place your pet under your seat if the carrier fits without obstructing the other passengers.

Knowing ahead of time that you are going to fly with your pet in the cabin, search the internet for an airline approved carrier that is also approved for in-cabin travel. There are many to choose from online. With the countless options available, finding the one that fits your needs at an affordable price is the key. If money is not an option, there are models that are far more expensive called the “luxury line” that comes with more features and compartments. You will be amazed at the many colors and designs that you can choose from.

Enjoy your traveling but especially enjoy knowing that your pet is safe and secure during the flight as well.

Question by Jessica: Crate to use on a flight over 12 hours?
I know the airlines only approve certain types of carriers for pets. But I’m not finding anything large enough for a flight this long where there’d be separate areas for sleeping, food and to eliminate. Do they make something for flights of this length? Thanks!

A full grown dog can go 12 hours+ without food. Travel, especially air travel, is stressful for a dog to begin with. Feed the night before you leave and then not until after you’ve arrived and settled in. Traveling on a full tummy is only likely to add vomit into the mix. But, to answer your question, dogs crates aren’t meant to be eliminated in. Make sure your dog goes at the airport before check-in and as soon as you land and it should be fine. The crate should be large enough for the dog to stand and turn around in. Fresh water can be given via bottle, but make sure its a good on that wont leak; otherwise your dog will have an uncomfortable trip.

Pets on Aerosvit Airlines?

Question by : Pets on Aerosvit Airlines?
So I’m planing to travel on the Aerosvit Airline from NYC to Ukraine and I want to bring my dog with me in the passenger cabin. What are the dimensions of the pet carrier supposed to be for the dog to go into the cabin? And if anyone has experienced his dog going in the baggage compartment on the Aerosvit Airline flight how did the dog feel after flight? Was he ok? Because my dog is very small and if he doesn’t get picked to go in passenger cabin(they allow only 1 pet per cabin) he will have to go in the baggage compartment and I’m just worried.

The dimensions cannot be very large because the height from floor to base of the seat in front of you can’t be more than 12 inches high. I suggest you call the airline and ask what the policy is for bringing pets on-board.
