Question by Jay: pet carrier that is no larger than 17″long x 16″wide x 10″high?
i am flying to Ohio (2 hrs) to pick up a new puppy March 14th and need to find a pet carrier that is allowed as carry-on for US Airways. the demensions allowed are 17″long x 16″wide x 10″high or smaller. it cant be a tiny carrier because the puppy is pretty big (figure about the size of an 8 week old husky).. i am having a lot of trouble finding one that size that is also affordable (around $ 50 would be great!). please help me out! and thank you in advance!

here is a picture of my puppy, he will be a little bit bigger than he is in the picture: http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/3/l_653698f645ac49aeb81ed300b989d22b.jpg

Oh you cant get those at any walmart or pet store. I bought mine at walmart a few months ago and I always see them in the dog section. I also, always see them at the pet store too.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by : Do you carry your small dog around with you? Sneak it into places etc? What do you think of people who do?
I was wondering who carries their small dog with them? I am getting a 6-8 lb dog and will most likely get a messenger style pet carrier. I will carry him around with me as I do errands for 2-5 hours during the day.

Does anyone do this? If not a dog owner, do you find this weird?
If you are a dog owner who does this, do you recommend any type of carrier or have any stories about sneaking your dog into restaurants, stores etc? ;)

The problem is I don’t want to leave my dog alone for long periods of time. Sometimes I plan on carrying him around with me for up to 10 hours when I have to run errands for work. (I deliver notices for legal firms, and also do some maintenence on houses during the day.)

Will people think I’m one of those weirdo “dog purse” ladies?

PS I’m a guy :)
The reason I’m doing this is so I don’t have to leave him by himself and develop “separation anxiety”
Not doing it to accessorize… would it be better to be like a lot of working people and leave your dog by itself for 9 hours during the day (as so many dog owners do)?
I gotta work and pay the bills haha.
Thanks for the advice ;)
Edit:
thanks for the advice. I suppose if I’m gone for 2-5 hours I will just leave the dog at home and crate it, but at times if I’m gone longer like 6-9 hours I will bring it around in a messenger bag like this:

Thanks for all the advice I’ll definitely take it into consideration. I have to agree with the allergy info, I wasn’t thinking about other people, just about my future dog haha ;)

I think it’s ridiculous for a dog to be placed in a bag. I don’t do this.

Roscoe has been at the shelter since 2/28/09. He is very friendly and talkitive, good with small children and doesn’t jump up on tables. He was raised with other cats and dogs and does well with them. He doesn’t beg to go outside, but does like to go outside, although he doesn’t roam. He uses his litter pan perfectly and rides quietly in the car and carrier. He was found as a leave-behind pet around 44th and Wadsworth.

Here is Evel, in the green-and-yellow beach-toweled carrier. I felt terrible because he let me pet him while he was eating some sardines and then I just picked him up and put him right in. The whole scenario is reminiscent of Hansel and Gretel…and I am the witch.

As I could have guessed, he is not taking this lightly. His mewling is absolutely heartwrenching. I can hear it right now, over the dryer and over the music playing on the computer. Oh, dear.
