Question by Jess: American Airlines policy?
I’ve got my ticket, an appointment with the vet for a health certificate for my cat, and a reservation for my cat as a carry on. Now American Airlines want a carrier that your pet can sit and stand comfortably. Does that only apply to cargo pets? The carrier I have is comfortable for my cat but she can’t stand up all the way. I’ve never been on a plane so I don’t know if the carrier will fit under the seat. Am I allowed to use the carriers that look like over-sized purses?

Pet Carrier Guidelines:

The maximum size for cabin pet carriers is 19″ long x 13″ wide x 9″ high. Soft-sided pet carriers such as Sherpa bags may exceed these dimensions slightly because they are collapsible. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position in the kennel. Soft-sided pet carriers are accepted as long as they are constructed of water-repellent, padded nylon with mesh ventilation on two or more sides.

A pet kennel counts as either a passenger’s one carry-on bag or personal item – a cabin pet charge still applies, however.

Pets must stay in their closed and/or zipped kennels under the seat in front of you at all times. Pets may not be removed from their kennel/container at any time while onboard the aircraft.

Question by Brittnee: What major retail stores allow small dogs?
Please do not reply with your opinion of whether or not SHOULD bring my dog into a store, I’m simply asking if where she would be allowed. She is a 3 llb Yorkie and I have a pet carrier purse for her. I’m in Phoenix, Arizona….

Obviously pet stores would allow me to bring her in, I am looking for someone who actually knows the law and or health code to answer… not for your rude opinion about me and who you think I am… get a life and just be NICE!

No major retail stores that I know of have a “purse dogs allowed” policy, sorry. No dogs allowed means no dogs allowed, it doesn’t matter that your dog doesn’t actually walk on the ground.

Unless we’re talking about pet stores.. but I don’t think that’s what you were going for, right?

Add: Honey, this has nothing to do with laws, unless you are referring to grocery stores and restaurants, where it would violate health codes. It has to do with private property (ie. the store) and their policies. If you choose not to abide by their policies, they do have a right to ask you to leave.

Question by grace: Need helping finding dog carrier?
I am going on a trip and will be flying US Airways. I am taking my yorkie with me and the airline in very strict on dimensions on the pet carrier for express flights. Does anyone know where I can find a pet carrier that is 8″ in height, 17″ in width and 15″ long? The dimensions can’t be more than this.

go to petco or another pet store. if u cant find anything there try to order it off the internet. u can def find one there

My mom has zumba classes and i have been carrying my guinea pig in a carrier but I want to know if it is ok I know i should have asked sooner .
