A few questions about flying on airplanes with small dogs?

Question by : A few questions about flying on airplanes with small dogs?
Hey everybody! I know I already asked a question like this, but I have a few new questions and I am in need of a bit more detail.

Please read all and answer all mini questions within the questions.

1. How big can your dog be in order to fly under the seat in front of you, what is the maximum size? I know that American Airlines says you can have your pet combined with the carrier weigh 20 pounds, about how much do you think the carrier would weigh?

Could a dog a big as say, a fully grown beagle do it?

2. What is the probability of a dogs having a nervous breakdown/heart attack/ other serious or fatal problem because of just being too high strung, like little dogs often are, or from being nervous about the strange setting?

3. What other health problems can effect them? Does the pressure change affect them a lot? Any information on what health ailments they can suffer from and how to prevent them would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Please answer all my little questions!

1.call airline. Different airlines have different rules.
2. My current two dogs are small and not high strung. Toy poodle and miniature poodle/schnauzer mutt. Proper training and exercise allieviates this.
3. The dog won’t be affected. The dog will probablu sleep.

Now remember, when flying, YOU need to chill. If you’re nervous, dog will be, too. Relax and enjoy your flight.

Question by : Do you carry your small dog around with you? Sneak it into places etc? What do you think of people who do?
I was wondering who carries their small dog with them? I am getting a 6-8 lb dog and will most likely get a messenger style pet carrier. I will carry him around with me as I do errands for 2-5 hours during the day.

Does anyone do this? If not a dog owner, do you find this weird?
If you are a dog owner who does this, do you recommend any type of carrier or have any stories about sneaking your dog into restaurants, stores etc? ;)

The problem is I don’t want to leave my dog alone for long periods of time. Sometimes I plan on carrying him around with me for up to 10 hours when I have to run errands for work. (I deliver notices for legal firms, and also do some maintenence on houses during the day.)

Will people think I’m one of those weirdo “dog purse” ladies?

PS I’m a guy :)
The reason I’m doing this is so I don’t have to leave him by himself and develop “separation anxiety”
Not doing it to accessorize… would it be better to be like a lot of working people and leave your dog by itself for 9 hours during the day (as so many dog owners do)?
I gotta work and pay the bills haha.
Thanks for the advice ;)
Edit:
thanks for the advice. I suppose if I’m gone for 2-5 hours I will just leave the dog at home and crate it, but at times if I’m gone longer like 6-9 hours I will bring it around in a messenger bag like this:

Thanks for all the advice I’ll definitely take it into consideration. I have to agree with the allergy info, I wasn’t thinking about other people, just about my future dog haha ;)

I think it’s ridiculous for a dog to be placed in a bag. I don’t do this.
